Dan Senor is an executive at Elliott Management, a New York City-based investment fund with affiliated offices in London, Tokyo, and Hong Kong. He is co-author of Start-Up Nation: The Story of Israel’s Economic Miracle, a New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and Washington Post bestseller. Start-Up Nation has been translated into 30 languages and also has been on bestseller lists in China, India, and Singapore.
Dan was senior advisor to vice-presidential nominee Paul Ryan in 2012, and a foreign policy advisor to Governor Romney on his 2012 and 2008 presidential campaigns. During the administration of George W. Bush, Dan was based in Baghdad for over a year where he served as senior advisor to the Coalition in Iraq, before which he was a U.S. Department of Defense official based at U.S. Central Command in Qatar. He spent most of the 1990s working as an aide in the U.S. Senate. Dan has written analytical pieces for The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, USA Today, and The Washington Post, and is a frequent guest on CNBC’s “Squawk Box”, CNN's "Fareed Zakaria GPS", and PBS/Bloomberg’s “Charlie Rose Show”.
Earlier in his business career, Dan was an investment professional at the Carlyle Group and a co-founder of Rosemont Capital. He has also invested in a number of Israeli start-ups.
Dan serves on the boards of the Foreign Policy Initiative, Students First NY, Start-Up Nation Central, the Jewish Community Project of Lower Manhattan, the Abraham Joshua Heschel School, and the Paul E. Singer Foundation. He is a member of the World Economic Forum’s Young Global Leaders Forum. Dan is a graduate of Harvard Business School and lives in NYC with his wife and two sons.
