Growing up in a broken home in the Detroit, Michigan area, Chad learned at a young age that life is sometimes unfair. From early childhood, Chad found himself surrounded by some of life's cruelest realities. Chad grew up watching his mother violently abuse alcohol and drugs and basketball soon became his escape from the troubled lifestyle that surrounded him. He was nominated to the McDonald's All-American basketball team while playing for Detroit's Catholic Central High School. After high school, Chad went on to star at the University of Pittsburgh where he was voted captain and was a pre-season All Big-East selection. From there, Chad was invited to play with the Dallas Mavericks of the NBA, but injured his hand prior to training camp. From 1997-1999 Chad played in the European professional leagues in Spain where he averaged twenty points and ten rebounds a game. Chad was voted to start the all-star game in each of his professional seasons and also won the slam dunk contest in his rookie season. In October of 1999 many drastic changes began to take place in Chad's life. At twenty-five years old and at the peak of his career with contracts guaranteeing financial security for him and his family, Chad began to feel that there was a different purpose in his life and that there was more to life than just shooting a jump shot or dunking a basketball. Chad made the ultimate decision to give up what he had worked his whole life for so he could make a difference in other people's lives. Chad founded InsprieNow; a non-profit organization established to reach the young people of our nation's public schools and corporate Americas through motivational seminars. Chad speaks annually to over 250,000 people. In 2000, Chad Varga founded InspireNow, Inc out of a genuine desire to invest his life in our nation’s youth through character education. At InspireNow, they believe that character development, a commitment to excellence and personal responsibility, are the building blocks for children to achieve their full potential. InspireNow is currently working with educators and students across America to create safer and more positive learning environments by developing quality school assemblies and character programs. Chad received his Bachelor's Degree in Social Sciences from the University of Pittsburgh. He and his wife Kristie make their home in the Altanta, GA area. They are the proud parents of two children, Cameron and Kiersten.
