Chad began racing in 1981 at Highland Rim Speedway .He spent 7 years racing at tracks all over the southeast. During those seven years, Chaffin won 27 times, was "Most Popular Driver" twice, and set seven track qualifying records.
Chaffin drove in the NASCAR Busch Series in 1994. In 1997, Chaffin competed in the Hooter's Pro-Cup Series.He earned a runner-up finish in the point standings.
In 1997 Chad would again drive in the NASCAR Busch Grand National Series
Not only is Chad a talented race car driver, but he is also a very skilled and gifted mechanic and fabricator. He has built and maintained all of his own race cars from the time he started racing in the early 80s.
Chad is incredibly "fan friendly". He is often seen with his fans, signing autographs and spending time with them.
