Britta Heidemann was born December 22, 1982 in Cologne and is a German épée fencer. Heidemann had her biggest success on 13 August during the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics, when she defeated Ana Maria Brânză (ROU) to win the gold medal, just minutes after fellow countryman Benjamin Kleibrink won the men's individual foil competition. Prior to this, her biggest achievement had been a gold medal at the 2007 World Championships in the individual competition. At the 2004 Summer Olympics she won the Silver Medal in the épée competition with her teammates, Claudia Bokel and Imke Duplitzer. During the 2006 World Fencing Championships she won the bronze medal after beating Romania in the épée team event together with her team mates Imke Duplitzer, Claudia Bokel and Marijana Markovic. Heidemann currently lives as a student in Cologne.
