Professor Aalai has been full time faculty with the Psychology department since 2009. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology at The George Washington University in Washington, DC., her Masters degree in Clinical Psychology from Columbia University and her PhD in applied social psychology from Loyola University Chicago. Her research interests include media portrayals during times of war, media effects on public opinion, psychological underpinnings to violence, warfare, & genocide, and cultural & gender studies. She is a regular contributor for Psychology Today, in addition to other writing ventures.
Dr. Aalai was grateful to be invited to teach for the Renaissance Scholars Program during the Spring 2013 semester. She found the experience to be both challenging and transformative. The dedication from both students and faculty involved with the program, the genuine intellectual curiosity and excitement shared by both students and faculty, and the opportunity to share in interdisciplinary collaboration and to join this community at MC have been transformative.
