I most recently served as EVP & Chief Marketing Officer for the Magazine Publishers Association – the MPA as it’s commonly known. In this position, I promoted the value of magazine advertising to media agencies and client decision makers, helping them understand how magazines carry heavy influence in purchase decisions, and are more than just ink on paper.
We led as the industry migrated to the rapidly growing digital world – into mobile and social - and anything on a tablet. We changed the measurement conversation from circulation to audience metrics. Much of what I applied in measurement I learned at Kellogg’s, where I led the industry advocating for commercial vs program tv ratings.
The majority of my career was at Kellogg’s. My first years on the brand side, where I launched Raisin Bran Crunch. Followed in an ever growing role as head of Advertising & Media. Here, I was able to lead Kellogg’s media practice to best in class industry standards. We were pioneers in branded integrations (The Tyra Banks Show), product placement (NBC Friends/Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes), and strategic media partnerships (Pop-Tarts/American Idol Tour). We built early 1-to-1 relationship marketing programs between Special K and Yahoo! before social media became an every day term. I had the privilege to work with great brand teams at Kellogg’s and outstanding agency partners in Starcom & Leo Burnett.
We grew sales and built a stronger Kellogg's.
Golden Books Family Entertainment was my first client job, where I learned brand & product management. As a Marketing Director with 16 direct reports, we operated category management programs for Target, Toys ‘R’ Us, and Barnes & Noble. And I oversaw our New York editorial office, where I learned the art of publishing.
My career began in advertising, at Cramer-Krasselt and Tatham Laird & Kudner. I look back on this early experience as my foundation for understanding brand management, media & marketing.
