Ana María Peredo, Ph.D., is a Professor at the University of Victoria, Canada. Currently a member of the School of Environmental Studies, she was a member of the Peter B. Gustavson School of Business from 2000 to June 2016, and from 2008 to 2014 was also Director of the Centre for Co-operative and Community-Based Economy at UVic. A native of Peru, Dr. Peredo received her Ph.D. with a specialization in Entrepreneurship, Environmental Management and Sustainable Development from The University of Calgary. Ana María has a strong interest in community alternatives and participatory action research among indigenous people, arising in part from her work as an anthropologist, and as a journalist with one of Peru’s leading dailies. She is a pioneer in the field of community-based entrepreneurship, sustainable development and the alleviation of poverty.
