Amanda Cromwell is the defensive midfielder for the D.C. Freedom, member of the Women's National Soccer Team, and a dedicated Christian speaker. Amanda Cromwell played soccer throughout high school and her goal was to earn a scholarship to college and make the National Team.
Many Universities sought after Amanda. Among the recruiters was Michelle Akers, who offered Cromwell a chance to play with the University of Central Florida. However, Amanda Cromwell decided to accept a scholarship to Virginia. Later, she would again meet up with Michelle Akers and the impact would be great.
Amanda Cromwell made the National Team in 1991. It was there, that she saw Michelle again. "Michelle had a great influence on me," says Amanda. "I was confirmed when I was 14, and always went to church, but I never understood the relationship part. I never understood what it meant to know Jesus."
Michelle was doing a Bible study on the bus as they traveled on the road with the National Team. "I thought it was cool. I wanted to get into Bible study. I wanted to get into the Word like Michelle was", Amanda Cromwell explained. That is exactly what she did. She is a well known and talented Christian athlete.
