Alfred A. Edmond Jr. graduated from Rutgers College at Rutgers, in New Jersey in 1983 with a degree in studio art and a minor in economics.
Before joining Black Enterprise, Edmond served as senior editor of MBM/Modern Black Men Magazine and as associate editor for the Daily Challenge. In addition, Edmond was the managing editor of Big Red News (now the New York Beacon).
As Editor-in-Chief of Black Enterprise, Mr. Edmond sits on the editorial board.
Edmond has been recognized by TJFR Business News Reporter as one of America 's 100 Most Influential Financial Journalists. During his time as the chief editor of Black Enterprise, the magazine has earned five Folio Editorial Excellence Awards in the business/finance category. A Griot Award from the New York Association of Black Journalists and over a dozen other editorial and design awards. A nationally recognized expert on business and economic trends, Edmond has appeared on such television shows as CNNfn's MarketCall, BET Nightly News and America 's Black Forum.
Edmond is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) and on the board of the American Society of Magazine Editors. He is a lifetime member of the New York Association of Black Journalists (NYABJ) and Rutgers University Alumni Association. He currently serves on many boards including the Leadership Enterprise for a Diverse America (LEDA).
In addition, he is still an adjunct professor in the journalism department at Rutgers.
