Cumberland County College graduates this spring might be able to learn some helpful tips as they step into the outside world. Wawa CEO Chris Gheysens is the commencement speaker for their May 19th graduation.
Gheysens is actually from Vineland, New Jersey where CCC is located. His speech will kick off the school's 50th anniversary.
To add-in another tie, Wawa founders actually donated CCC the land where the college now stands. Gheysens should prove to be an inspiration to the graduates and also share some success stories from his rise up the corporate ladder at the convenience store chain.
Gheysens has worked for Wawa since 1997, became president of the company in 2012, and CEO in 2013. He oversees an ever-expanding business that currently boasts 645 stores across six states.
Wawa is also the 34th largest privately held company in the U.S. Gheysens spearheaded the chain's move into Florida and also oversaw development of a mobile app and extensive remodeling of the existing stores.
Prior to joining Wawa, Gheysens worked for four years as an auditor at Deloitte LLP. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the National Association of Convenience Stores.
