Veteran PBS Broadcaster Bill Moyers Named Rutgers University Commencement Speaker

Bill Moyers has had a lengthy career as a respected television journalist.  He now has the opportunity to speak at one of the nation's oldest universities.  

Moyers is the speaker for Rutgers University's 250th commencement May 15th.  The ceremony will be held beginning at 12:30 p.m. at High Point Solutions Stadium. 

Commencement is free and open to the public with no formal tickets being required.  In addition to speaking, Moyers will be awarded a Doctor of Laws.  

Moyers is one of the most acclaimed journalists of our time and has developed a lengthy relationship with PBS over his four decades in the business.  His production house, Moyers & Company, has produced many of the important programs that he has hosted over the years.

Early in his career, Moyers served as press secretary for U.S. President Lyndon B. Johnson.  That launched him into a more prevalent media career, first as a publisher at Newsday and then as a commentator with CBS News.  

Throughout his life, Moyers has received over 30 Emmys and written several bestselling books. In 1995, he was elected into the Television Hall of Fame.
