Even into his 80's, veteran journalist Dan Rather remains active.  He was recently the featured speaker at The American Middle East Institute dinner.

The dinner was held at the Carnegie Music Hall and Foyer in Oakland, Pennsylvania.  It was the official wrap-up event for AMEI's ninth annual "New Frontiers of Health" conference.

Rather talked about the organization and also made some comments about the upcoming presidential election.  There was also a VIP reception that allowed attendees to mingle with the iconic broadcaster and take photos.

Rather is best known for his long association with CBS News.  He was the anchor of the "CBS Evening News" from 1981-2005.

Rather spent 43 total years at CBS.  He covered some landmark American historical events like the assassination of President John F. Kennedy and the Watergate scandal.

Currently, Rather serves as the managing editor and anchor of "Dan Rather Reports" on AXS TV.  He is a member of the Television Hall of Fame and received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Emmy Trustees in 2014.
