USC Announces Oracle Founder Larry Ellison as Commencement Speaker

Oracle founder Larry Ellison has the distinction of addressing the graduates at one of the nation's most prestigious universities this May.  Ellison is the 2016 commencement speaker at the University of Southern California on May 13th.

The 133rd commencement ceremony will be held at the University Park Campus in Alumni Park at 9 a.m. Around 15,000 degrees will be conferred at USC this year. 

Graduation proceedings at USC are non-ticketed events.  Only specific college ceremonies may require individual tickets. 

Ellison founded Oracle in 1977.  Today, he serves as executive chairman and chief technology officer of the technology giant after stepping down from his CEO post in 2014.

Oracle has over 130,000 employees operating in 145 countries and has annual revenue of approximately $3.8 billion.  The year Ellison stepped down as CEO, he was ranked the fifth-wealthiest person in the world by Forbes.

Ellison has earmarked at least one percent of his wealth to The Giving Pledge.  He also is the founder of the Lawrence Ellison Foundation which supports several philanthropic causes and aging research.
