University of Miami Psychology Professor Amishi Jha Keynotes Clifford Symposium

Last month, University of Miami Psychology Professor Amishi Jha had a significant speaking engagement on the Middlebury College campus.  She was the opening keynote speaker at the Clifford Symposium, that ran from September 22-24. 

The symposium is an annual event that examines talks about the meaning of mindfulness.  There was a host of different presentations and activities with the goal of getting everyone in the Middlebury family active in this pursuit. 

Jha's talk was titled, "Strengthening the Brain's Attention Span with Mindfulness Training".  The events were all free and open to the public. 

Jha is an Associate Professor of Psychology at Miami.  She is also the Director of Contemplative Neuroscience for the UMindfulness Initiative. 

Before arriving at UM, Jha was an Assistant Professor at the University of Pennsylvania's Center for Cognitive Neuroscience.  Her research is in the area of applications of mindfulness across business, education, military and sports.  

In 2010, Jha was selected as a Poptech Science and Public Leadership Fellow.  Her thoughts have been featured on major news outlets like CBS, NBC and NPR.
