Top Journalist Maria Hinojosa Keynotes Colorado State Diversity Symposium

A prominent Latina journalist is one of the front liners for the Colorado State Diversity Symposium.  Maria Hinojosa spoke on Tuesday night at 6 p.m. at the Lory Student Center Theater on campus. 

Hinojosa was one of three evening keynote speakers.  The entire symposium took place at the Center September 19-22.  

In addition to the night events, there were 40 hour-long sessions during the day.  There were several local speakers from Colorado State who gave talks during many of the day sessions. 

Hinojosa anchors and serves as executive producer for National Public Radio's Latino USA.  She is also the founder, CEO and president of Futuro Media Group that producer Latino USA. 

Previously, Hinojosa worked as a Senior Correspondent for "NOW on PBS".  She is the author of two books and has won four Emmys for her journalism work.  

For Hinojosa's documentary, "Child Brides: Stolen Lives", won the Overseas Press Club's Edward R. Murrow Award.  On three occasions, Hispanic Business Magazine has named her one of the 100 Most Influential Hispanics.
