SXSW may be best known for its spring blowout, but events under that banner run all year long in Austin, Texas. One of those, SXSW, Eco, released their speaker lineup for their October conference.
The three-day event is being headlined by keynote speaker and architect William McDonough. The conference stands to celebrate the ability of design, technology and business power to key global change.
On October 11th, McDonough will speak from 1-2 p.m. under the topic title of "Cradle to Cradle: The Circular Economy and the Carbon Positive City". He will also be a part of a panel the next day titled, "The New Radicals: Companies Embracing Transparency".
McDonough wears many hats, but is best described as a leader in the movement towards sustainable development. He pursues his architectural goals through his organizations William McDonough + Partners and McDonough Braungart Design Company.
There is no shortage of major awards that McDonough has received. In 1996, he became the first and only individual honored with the Presidential Award for Sustainable Development.
McDonough was also given the National Design Award for environmental design in 2004. He recently served as the first Chair of the World Economic Forum's Meta-Council on Circular Economy.
