Storytelling Activist Amal Kassir Speaks at DreamWeek Awards Luncheon

The DreamWeek Summit recently inspired the conversation about civil issues in San Antonio, Texas. There were over 200 events that took place over 16 days, including the Awards Luncheon.
Storytelling activist Amal Kassir spoke at that event. She was able to share her own personal story of activism.
The summit celebrated its sixth year of promoting tolerance, equality and diversity. There was an Opening Ceremony and the Inaugural Mayor's Ball to bookend the schedule of activities.
Kassir is a Syrian-American who was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. As a spoken word poet, she has presented in ten countries.
Kassir's activism touches Islamophobia and humanitarian initiatives for Syria. She has spoken in venues as diverse as youth prisons, universities and refugee camps.
Kassir also conducts workshops for people from all backgrounds. She has created the undergraduate degree program titled "Community Programming in Social Psychology."
