Small Business Expert Becky McCray Speaks at #Estill Rising Conference
Aug 17 2016
Carson Ingle
A small town business success was the perfect keynote speaker to bring to #Estill Rising on August 5th. Becky McCray addressed attendees at the one-day conference.
#Estill Rising was established for the citizens of Irvine, Kentucky by the Estill Development Alliance. The event began at Irvine City Hall and there were a variety of track sessions that individuals could sign up for.
McCray gave a positive outlook on the future of small towns. She talked about several developments like small e-commerce, community-oriented retail, and an interest in niche tourism as reasons why small towns have staying power.
Doing successful small business in small towns is what McCray knows best. She is the owner of a liquor store and a cattle ranch in Alva, Oklahoma.
McCray has also spent time as a city administrator and a non-profit executive. Along with Chicago entrepreneur Barry Moltz, she co-authored "Small Town Rules: How Big Brands and Small Businesses Can Prosper in a Connected Economy".
McCray also gives her speaking engagements under the Small Town Rules banner. She has presented her positive, but not unrealistic view of what can be achieved in small communities to over 100 different groups.
