Sir Richard Branson Named Keynote Speaker for CITY Gala Fundraiser

Many are inspired just by reading about Richard Branson's success story, but next month one lucky group will actually hear the businessman speak.  Branson has been named keynote speaker at February 15th CITY Gala Fundraiser in Los Angeles.

The second annual event for the Community Inspiring Today's Youth will immediately follow the Grammy Awards.  It will be at the Playboy Mansion and is an invite-only occasion.

There will be an open bar and buffet, musical entertainment, a charity poker tournament, and a live and silent auction. Last year, the fundraiser generated over $350,000 for various LA-based charities.  

Branson is a multi-billionaire who most notably built his fortune as head of the Virgin Group.  What originally started as a group of record stores now is a company with over 400 businesses under its umbrella. 

Branson has also generated a great deal of publicity over the years with several record-breaking attempts in various daredevil pursuits.  He is known to contribute to various causes and was an original sponsor of the International Centre for Missing Children.

Two years ago, Branson received the Business for Peace award.  He was knighted at Buckingham Palace in 2000 as well.
