Sonia Manzano educates youth through her role as Maria on "Sesame Street".  Next Thursday, she will be aiding a similarly important cause.

Manzano is the keynote speaker at the 13th annual Cornerstone Dinner, an event put on by SpirTrust Lutheran to recognize the work of great philanthropists.  It will be held at The Yorktowne Hotel in York, Pennsylvania.

Manzano had entertained children while also providing life lessons for over 40 years with Sesame Street.  She appeared on the show from 1971-2015 and also wrote scripts for the series.

For her work as a writer, Manzano received 15 Emmy Awards.  Twice she was nominated for an Emmy in the category of Oustanding Performer in a Children's Series.

Last year, Manzano published her memoir, "Becoming Maria: Love and Chaos in the South Bronx".  Latina Online has named her one of the Greatest Latina Role Models Ever.
