Sam's Club CEO Rosalind Brewer recently took part in a special event with Fortune Magazine. She was featured during one of the magazine's "Most Powerful Women" Q&A's.
The most recent event with Brewer was hosted at the Time Warner Center in New York City. She checks in at 15th on this year's Most Powerful Women list.
Brewer talked a great deal about diversity and how she tackles the broad topic in her business ventures. She also talked about being outspoken and not holding back.
As Sam's Club CEO, Brewer is the first African-American and first woman to lead a business division of Walmart. She joined Sam's Club in 2012 and quickly set off on implementing a growth strategy based on technology and innovation.
Brewer first joined Walmart in 2006. She rose from regional vice president in Georgia, to Southeast division president and Walmark East president.
Prior to Walmart, Brewer had a 22-year tenure at Kimberly-Clark Corp. She currently sits on the board of directors for Lockheed Martin Corporation and chair of the board of trustees for her alma mater, Spelman College.
