Last week, Leila Janah was able to make an impact upon students at Wells College.  She visited the Upstate New York school to take part in their Entrepreneurship Week.

Janah's keynote presentation took place last Tuesday from 8:30-10:30 p.m. at Phipps Auditorium on campus.  It was sponsored by the Sullivan Center for Business & Entrepreneurship.

This was Wells' fifth Entrepreneurship Week.  Each year, about 15 percent of the student population participates in the week's events.

Janah impacts life through the companies she found.  Sama Group works to combat poverty by providing social venture jobs in areas that have high unemployment.

Janah also founded Laxmi, a brand that obtains various skincare ingredients from low-income areas for fair market value. In addition, she serves as a Young Global Leader of the World Economic Forum.

Before founding Sama Group, Janah was a visiting scholar at the Stanford Program on Global Justice and Australian National University's Center for Applied Philosophy and Public Ethics.  She received her bachelor's degree in African Development Studies from Harvard University.
