With a mastery of the way Washington works, political writer Jane Mayer certainly has an understanding of trends throughout the country as well. She was able to speak about some of those demographic shifts as the keynote speaker at the Oklahoma Bar Association annual meeting.
On November 3rd, Mayer spoke for almost an hour at the Sheraton Hotel in Oklahoma City. The topic of her talk was, "How Billionaires Have Targeted Judicial Races and Other Elections."
The fascination around money in politics has become even more prominent in recent months. Mayer's lunch presentation was very well-received.
Mayer has written about politics for The New Yorker since 1995. She was also the first female White House Correspondent at the Wall Street Journal.
Mayer is author of "Dark Money: The Hidden History of the Billionaires Behind the Rise of the Radical Right" and "The Dark Side: The Inside Story of How the War on Terror Turned Into a War on American Ideals." The Dark Side was named one of the ten best books of the year by The New York Times.
In 2008, Mayer received a Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship. She has won the John Chancellor Award for Excellence in Journalism and the Ridenhour Book Prize.
