Political Philosopher Danielle Allen Speaks at Weber State University

Last week, political philosopher Danielle Allen spoke at a special event at Weber State University. She keynoted the Haven J. Barlow Fall Civic Leadership Forum.
The forum was held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday at the Shepherd Union Wildcat Theater on campus. It was a free event hosted by the Olene S. Walker Institute of Politics & Public Service, the student association and WSU Convocations.
Allen discussed the entire history of democracy. She will talk about what the concept actually means and what people have to do to keep living in a democratic society.
Much of Allen's work has centered on the Declaration of Independence. Her book, "Our Declaration," won the Society of American Historians' Francis Parkman Prize and the Heartland Prize for Nonfiction from the Chicago Tribune.
Overall, Allen has written six books. She serves as a government professor and the Director of the Edmond J. Safra Center for Ethics at Harvard University.
In the past, Allen also held positions at Princeton University and the University of Chicago. She has been a Chair of the Pulitzer Prize board and the Mellon Foundation board.
