The ninth annual GamesBeat 2016 conference focused on the virtual reality and augmented reality technologies taking over gaming and mobile applications. There was no better speaker to address some of these topics and more then Niantic Labs CEO John Hanke.
Hanke will be going in-depth about how VR and AR have influenced the entertainment industry. In addition to his presentation, there will be over 100 other speakers attending.
The overall theme of the conference was "GamesBeat 2016: The Platform Awakens - A new hope for the gaming industry". It was held from August 1-3 at the Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, California.
As CEO at Niantic Labs, Hanke led the efforts to create the massively popular Pokemon Go app. Following its release this July, the app has already been downloaded over 100 million times.
Hanke was also the founder and CEO of Keyhole, Inc., a software development firm. The company was acquired by Google in 2004 and renamed Google Earth.
After selling Keyhole, Hanke served as Vice President of Product Managment for Google Geo. He holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Texas and an M.B.A. from the University of California.
