Opera Legend Deborah Voigt Named Cal State Fullerton Commencement Speaker

Following her time as a student at Cal State Fullerton, Deborah Voigt went on to a distinguished opera career. Now, she is returning to campus to talk about success and provide a roadmap for the Class of 2016.
Voigt was named commencement speaker this week. She will address the graduates at the first ceremony on May 21st.
In addition to speaking, Voigt will receive an honorary degree. She has remained active with Cal State Fullerton over the years, teaching masters classes and performing at several events.
Voigt has performed in some of the top operas in the world as a leading dramatic soprano. She is also a performer and host for the Metropolitan Opera's Live in HD series which is broadcast in movie theaters across the globe.
Additionally, Voigt operates her own one-woman operatic show "Voigt Lessons". Last year, she released her memoir, "Call Me Debbie: True Confessions of a Down-to-Earth Diva".
Voigt has been nominated for several Grammy Awards. She was Musical America's 2003 Vocalist of the Year and a 2007 Opera News Award-winning for distinguished achievement.
