Nobel Peace Laureate Kailash Satyarthi Keynotes Investing in the Future Conference October 19th

Nobel Peace laureate Kailash Satyarthi is speaking at an important international event next week.  On October 19th, he will keynote the Investing in the Future conference that is being held in the United Arab Emirates. 

The conference is titled, "Building the Resilience of Women and Girls in the Arab Region".  It is being held particularly to discuss engaging women and girls in decision-making. 

The event has been organized by The Big Heart Foundation.  It is being held in conjunction with the United Nations Equity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women. 

In 2014, Satyarthi won the Nobel Peace Prize, becoming the fifth person from India to ever win the award.  He has long fought for children's rights and the importance of education.

Satyarthi quit his career as a teacher and began work as an activist in 1980.  One of the earlier organizations he founded, GoodWeave International, fought against child labor in South Asia.  

Satyarthi was the founder and president of the Global Campaign for Education from 1999-2011. Last year, he was named Harvard University's Humanitarian of the Year.
