New York Times Columnist Charles Blow Keynotes Northwestern University MLK Observance

New York Times columnist Charles Blow recently got to speak at one of America's most prestigious universities. He was the keynote speaker for the Northwestern University's Martin Luther King Jr. commemoration.

The event took place on January 25th at 6 p.m. at Ryan Auditorium. There were also performances from Northwestern student groups at the program. 

Blow also spoke that day in Thorne Auditorium on NU's Chicago campus. That presentation was sponsored by the Feinberg School of Medicine and the Pritzker School of Law. 

Blow tackles several hot-button topics as an op-ed columnist for the Times. He originally joined the paper as a graphics editor in 1994 and was the graphics director for nine years.  

Blow is the author of the New York Times bestselling memoir, "Fire Shut Up In My Bones." The book received a Lambda Literary Award and the Sperber Prize. 

Blow also serves as a regular commentator for CNN. He taught a seminar on media and politics as a Presidential Visiting Professor at Yale University.
