This past Sunday, one of the most important executives in television addressed the graduates at Tougaloo College. NBC News chairman Andrew Lack gave the commencement address.
While rain forced the ceremony inside, it still went off without a hitch at the Jackson, Mississippi campus. 147 graduates were conferred degrees.
Lack had visited the college before and talked about its extraordinary history during his speech. He expressed his hopes that graduates will go out and apply their skills to make Mississippi better.
Lack began his second stint last spring. He oversees the business and editorial operations in his role with NBC News and MSNBC.
In addition, Lack currently oversees the NBCU Executive Committee. He originally joined the company in 1993 as the President at NBC News.
Lack also has big-time experience outside of NBC. He has been the Chairman of Bloomberg Media Group and Chairman and CEO of Sony Music Entertainment.
