At the end of September, Eric public schools teachers got an extra boost heading into the school year. Motivational speaker Jonathan Edison addressed the assembled crowd on August 25th.
Edison's appearance was officially a part of the 2016 Erie Public Schools Professional Learning Institute. The organization was set up to give teachers advanced skills so that they can foster success in the classroom.
One of the main things Edison focused on in his speech was having a passion for teaching. He also discussed the importance of teachers celebrating themselves.
At 27, Edison became the youngest assistant principal in the history of Detroit Public Schools. He achieved that remarkable goal despite growing up with a difficult upbringing and eventually dropping out of college.
Edison eventually returned to school and worked multiple jobs to earn his degree from Wayne State University. In 2004, he launched his career as a motivational speaker.
Since, Edison has inspired over one million people and spoken at over 1,000 events. He is also the author of four books and has presented to high-level companies like CVS, General Motors and McDonald's.
