Midem Names Record Executive L.A. Reid Keynote Speaker for Trade Fair

One of the world's top record executives has been tapped to speak at one of his industry's biggest events. L.A. Reid has been named the keynote speaker for the Midem trade fair. 

Midem takes place June 6-9 in Cannes, France. The theme of the event is, "A new golden age for the music industry? Get ready to embrace it."

Reid will share some of the great stories he has from over two decades in the business. He also plans to discuss the future of music especially as it pertains to the development of streaming. 

Reid is currently the CEO of Epic Records. Over the course of his career, he has mentored music icons like Mariah Carey, Usher and Justin Bieber. 

In 1989, Reid first struck it big as one of the co-founders of LaFace Records. The label launched the careers of Toni Braxton, TLC and Outkast, among others. 

Reid is also the CEO of Hitco Music Publishing. He gained a whole new audience as a judge on the first two seasons of the reality competition show, "X Factor".
