Lean In Co-Founder Debi Hemmeter Gives Commencement Speech at John F. Kennedy University

This weekend, a top business leader spoke to graduates at John F. Kennedy University. Lean In co-founder Debi Hemmeter was the commencement speaker at Saturday's ceremony.
The event took place at the Paramount Theatre in Oakland, California at 1 p.m. It was the school's 51st commencement proceeding.
There were nearly 350 graduates that attended the ceremony. Hemmeter shared stories about her own work-life balance with the school's class that is largely made up of adult learners.
At Lean-In, Hemmeter leads the important mission of fighting for gender equality in the workplace. Over 27,000 Lean-In circles currently exist worldwide.
Prior to co-founding the organization, Hemmeter worked in the private sector for over 20 years for four Fortune 50 companies. She started at Pepsi Co. and Sara Lee in sales and marketing.
Hemmeter also worked for Wells Fargo and Bank of America. She currently resides in the Bay Area with her husband and three children.
