The Virginia Festival of the Books is already making preparations for their mega-event this March. They have been unveiling an impressive list of speakers and one of the top chefs in the world will be presenting.
James Beard Award-winning chef Ashley Christensen will be leading a cooking demonstration at the festival. It will run March 22-26 across the city of Charlottesville.
Tickets for some of the top events already went on sale this morning. There are also several free presentations and more will be announced as the dates get closer.
Christensen just released her first cookbook, "Poole's: Recipes and Stories from a Modern Diner", this month. She opened the book's namesake, Poole's, in downtown Raleigh in 2007.
In 2014, Christensen won the James Beard Award for best chef in the Southeast. It was her second year as a finalist.
In addition to Poole's, Christesen owns several other restaurants in the Raleigh area. She has been a board member for organizations such as the Frankie Lemmon Foundation, Raleigh Contemporary Art Museum and Downtown Raleigh Alliance.
