Inspirational Speaker Iyanla Vanzant Makes End of Month Appearances in Indiana

One of the country's top inspirational speakers is making a pair of appearances in Kokomo, Indiana at the end of the month. The headline event for Iyanla Vanzant is Ivy Tech Community College's annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. celebration. 

On January 26th, Vanzant speaks at the "Doing the Dream" community gathering at the Bel Air Events Center. The following day, she will give a presentation at a special student convocation at the Kokomo Event & Conference Center. 

People interested can reserve tickets in advance for the community banquet. The student event is projected to have upwards of 1,000 high school and college students in attendance. 

Vanzant grew up in the projects of Brooklyn, New York and at one point was a mother on welfare. Her journey out of those difficult circumstances is at the crux of her speeches. 

Vanzant has written 15 books, including six New York Times bestsellers. She is the host of "Iyanla: Fix My Life," which is considered the top reality show on the Oprah Winfrey Network. 

New Thought and the evolution of human consciousness are areas of experties for VanZant. In 2000, Ebony Magazine named her one of the "100 Most Influential Black Americans."
