ImprovEdge founder and CEO Karen Hough has a unique way of helping businesses.  She was able to discuss some of her methods as the keynote speaker on September 16th at the Lawrence Schools Foundation Breakfast in Kansas.

The foundation raises money for teacher grants and student scholarships.  As a graduate of Lawrence High School, the speaking engagement was even more special for Hough.

There were around 550 in attendance at the breakfast.  They raised over $64,000 from the event for the foundation.

As the head of ImprovEdge, Hough oversees a consultancy firm that uses the principles of improvisational theater to improve businesses.  She has worked with top clients like AstraZeneca, ESPN, JP Morgan and NBC Universal.

Hough has roots in improv from her days studying it at Yale University and participating in the acclaimed Second City theater company in Chicago.  She later went into the tech business and found that the acting skills she had learned translated well into the corporate world.

Hough further researched how behaviors evident in improv could impact an organization's environment at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business.  That launched her down the road of becoming a bestselling author and top speaker.
