Geneseo College Names Oceanographer David Gallo Commencement Speaker

David Gallo is one of the world's leading oceanographers. Geneseo College has decided that is important experience for their graduates to learn from and has announced that Gallo will serve as their spring commencement speaker. 

He will speak at two ceremonies that begin at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on May 12 at the Ira S. Wilson Ice Arena. As someone who has been at the forefront of global exploration, Gallo should have a unique perspective to provide the Class of 2018. 

Each graduate will receive four tickets for undergraduate commencement. Speakers for the graduate graduations will be announced soon. 

Gallo has been exploring the oceans for over 40 years. He originally joined Robert Ballard's World Hole Oceanographic Institution as the Center for Marine Exploration's assistant director in 1987. 

Gallo currently serves as a senior advisor for strategic initiatives and programs at RMS Titanic Inc. He was recently the co-leader of an exhibition to create the first detailed and comprehensive map of the Titanic. 

Gallo previously worked at Columbia University as the senior advisor for strategic initiatives at the Center for Climate and Life of the Earth Institute. He is a noted speaker and over 13 million people have viewed his "Underwater Astonishments" TED talk.
