The Consumer Electronics Show has become a must-stop spot on the annual calendar for car rmakers.  CES 2016 will also have several heavyweights from the automotive industry as keynote speakers.

General Motors CEO Mary Barra is one of those luminaries and she is expected to reveal the production model of the all-electric Chevrolet Bolt.  GM is just one of nine automakers that will be present at the Las Vegas show January 6-9.

Barra will speak from 1-2 p.m. on the conference's opening day at the Westgate Theater inside the Westgate Hotel and Casino.  Intel CEO Brian Krzanich, Netflix CEO Reed Hastings, and Samsung SDS President WD Hong are some of the other notables from the list of eight keynote speakers.

Barra has been CEO at GM since January 2014.  She has climbed her way through the company, originally starting out as a co-op student at the Pontiac Motor Division in 1980.

Time Magazine named her one of the "100 Most Influential People in the World" in April 2014, shortly after her appointment as GM's first-female CEO.  Last year, she ranked first on Fortune Magazine's list of "Most Powerful Women".

Prior to becoming CEO, Barra held many executive positions, including Executive Vice President of Global Product Development, Global Purchasing, and Supply Chain.  She graduated with a master's degree in business administration from Stanford University.
