One of the remaining ties to the iconic Kennedy family recently spoke at an event for Democratic supporters in West Virginia. Kathleen Kennedy Townsend was the featured speaker at The West Virginia Federation of Democratic Women's latest meeting on September 17th.
The event was held in Charleston at the Marriott Town Center. The group remains committed to promoting Democratic issues with women throughout the state.
Kennedy Townsend was certainly a guest that appeals to the base of the group. During her presentation, she outlined the reasons why she believes Hillary Clinton needs to be the next U.S. President.
Kennedy Townsend is the oldest daughter of the late Senator Robert F. Kennedy. She was the first female lieutenant governor in the state of Maryland.
From 1995-2003, Kennedy Townsend served as the lieutenant governor. She also ran for the governorship in 2002.
Prior to serving Maryland, Kennedy Townsend was the U.S. Deputy Assistant Attorney General. In her post-political life, she has been an adjunct professor at Georgetown's Public Policy Institute and a fellow at the Harvard's Kennedy School of Government.
