Former Brookings Institution Fellow Mark McClellan Keynotes ACO Coalition Fall Meeting in October

The ACO & Emerging Healthcare Delivery Coalition has tapped a leading expert in the field as keynote speaker.  Former Brookings Institution fellow Mark McClellan will speak at the fall meeting in October. 

The two-day conference runs October 20-21 at the Westin in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  The American Journal of Managed Care is organizing the event and they will bring influencers from across the healthcare industry together. 

McClellan's presentation is titled, "Reforming Medicare".  He will talk about the challenges and some potential solutions for dealing with a large baby boomer generation as they further enter their twilight years. 

McClellan has a great deal of experience in the healthcare industry. From 2002-2004, he was FDA Commissioner and he followed that up as Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services from 2004-2006. 

Currently, McClellan serves as the director of the Duke-Margolis Center for Health Policy.  He is also the Robert J. Margolis, MD, Professor of Business, Medicine, and Health Policy. 

At the Brookings Institution, McClellan was the director of the Health Care Innovation and Value Initiative at the Engelberg Center for Health Care Reform.  He has a background in economics as well, having taught the topic and been an advisor for President George W. Bush.
