On Friday, former McDonald's president Jan Fields was in Lincoln, Nebraska to inspire a group of female leaders.  She was the keynote speaker at the Women in Business Conference held at Nebraska's Innovation Campus.

The conference was put on by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's College of Business Administration Undergraduate Women in Business organization.  In addition to Fields' closing speech, the day-long event featured breakout sessions about networking, negotiation, and career advancement.

Tickets cost $15 for students and $60 for an all-day pass for business professionals.  Partnerships with companies like Ameritas, Nelnet and Union Bank & Trust made it possible to bring in a big speaker like Fields.

Fields worked her way up through the McDonald's company.  She started as a crew member at a restaurant in 1978 navigated through the management ranks shortly thereafter.

Some of the positions Fields held included President and Senior Vice President of McDonald's Central Division and Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.  She was named President of McDonald's USA in 2010 and served in the role for two years.

Fields has been on Forbes' list of The World's Most Powerful Women and Fortune's 50 Most Powerful Women in Business.  She currently serves on the Board of Directors for Monsanto, Chico's FAS, and the Ronald McDonald House Charities.
