Empowerment Expert Maggie Anderson Speaks at Kansas State Black Student Union

Feb 23 2016

Maggie Anderson's message of empowerment has spread across the country.  Earlier this month, Anderson spoke at Kansas State University's Black Student Union. She was the keynote speaker for Black History Month.  Her presentation was given at the Alumni Center Ballroom on campus. Anderson shared her thoughts on supporting the black community.  She also talked about the challenges associated with keeping black businesses runnings.

Anderson started the Empowerment Experiment with her husband John.  They supported black businesses only for a one-year period and chronicled their results in the book, "Our black year: one family's quest to buy Black in America's divided economy".

As a native of Miami's rough Liberty City neighborhood, Anderson's story is compelling.  She went on to earn degrees from Emory University and the University of Chicago.

With her platform, Anderson shares her thoughts on consumerism with audiences and national networks.  She has made appearances on CNN, MSNBC, and Fox News just to name a few.
