Indiana University Purdue University Fort Wayne is hosting a very special event for women tomorrow.  Tapestry, A Day For You is billed as a day of inspiration, renewal, and education for women in all stages of life.

Contributing to the uplifting event is keynote speakers and comedian Vicki Lawrence.  The day's proceedings begin with check-in at 7:30 a.m. and her presentation will begin at 2:45 p.m.

Registration for Tapestry is completely booked.  Over the last 14 years, they have raised almost $750,000 in scholarship money.

Lawrence gained traction among audiences on The Carol Burnett Show.  From 1967-1978, she played a variety of characters on the show during its entire run.

In 1976, Lawrence won an Emmy Award for her performance in the series.  During that Carol Burnett run, Lawrence also topped the U.S. and Canadian music charts with "The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia".

One of the characters Lawrence crafted on that show got her an NBC spin-off show, Mama's Family.  To this day, she tours as the star of the stage show, "Vicki Lawrence & Mama: A Two-Woman Show".
