Education Reform Expert Thomas Guskey Speaks at the Powerful Learning Conference

Not many people understand the problems that face teachers better than Thomas Guskey.  The education reform expert shared some of those issues and potential solutions at the Powerful Learning Conference last month. 

The conference was held August 17-18 at Issaquah High School in Issaquah, Washington.  It was put on by the Center for Collaborative Support and gave teachers from different districts the opportunity to swap ideas. 

Guskey has already been working with the Issaquah School District over the past year to change grading practices.  There were over 100 sessions attendees could take part in over the two days. 

As a consultant, Guskey has worked with teachers in all 50 states and on three different continents.  He is also a professor at the University of Kentucky. 

Previously, Guskey was the Director of Research and Development for the Chicago Public Schools.  He was the first Director of the Center for the Improvement of Teaching and Learning. 

Guskey has written 12 books and over 100 articles dealing with various education topics.  He is a two-time winner of the National Staff Development Council Book of the Year award.
