Director Quentin Tarantino Speaks at UCLA's Design Showcase West

Students hoping to find their nitch in the film business got to hear from one of the best at UCLA on Saturday. Director Quentin Tarantino keynoted the 14th annual Design Showcase West.
The showcase is put on by UCLA's School of Theater, Film and Television. It allows soon-to-be graduates to showcase their talents in front of top studio executives and others from the entertainment business.
There were students from 14 different colleges in attendance. Tarantino gave them many tips and focused on the need to never lose sight of the connection between craft and character.
Tarantino has an iconic style that is all his own when it comes to filmmaking. He directorial career began in the late 1980's and has taken off ever since.
Empire labeled Tarantino's 1992 film "Reservoir Dogs" the "Greatest Independent Film of All Time". He followed that up with 1994's "Pulp Fiction", a picture that garnered seven Academy Award nominations and is considered one of the most significant works in modern cinematic history.
Tarantino has won two Oscars for Best Original Screenplay, including on one of his more recent pictures, "Django Unchained". Last year, he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for his contributions to filmmaking.
