Dillard University Names TV Host Garcelle Beauvais Commencement Speaker

Actress Garcelle Beauvais had entertained audiences with leading roles on television for some time.  She will shift her goals this May towards inspiring the Class of 2016 at Dillard University.

Beauvais has been named commencement speaker at the New Orleans school.  The ceremony will be held on May 7th at 8 a.m. on the Avenue of the Oaks.

Dillard will confer over 200 undergraduate degrees.  Golden Citations will also be issued to the Class of 1966 who is celebrating their 50th anniversary.  

Beauvais has appeared on over 30 TV shows.  She is best known for starring roles on "The Jamie Foxx Show" from 1996-2001 and NYPD Blue from 2001-2004. 

Currently, Beauvais is a co-host on the talk show "Hollywood Today Live".  She has also become a successful author, publishing three books that deal with children's issues. 

Beauvais is a supporter of the Step Up Women's Network.  She is active with March of Dimes and working to alleviate poverty in her native Haiti as well.
