Databricks Founder Ion Stoica Speaks at Apache Big Data

This week, Apache Big Data gathered together industry leaders working in Big Data and other technology fields. The event took place May 9-12 at the Hyatt Regency Vancouver.
One of the highlight speakers was Databrinks founder Ion Stoica. Stoice addressed the audience on Tuesday afternoon about the pending release of Spark 2.0.
In addition, Stoica showed a demonstration of his company's enhanced streaming capabilities. He said it will assist fraud detection systems and machine learning algorithms.
Stoica has co-founded Databrinks and Conviva Networks. Databrinks was started in 2013 to commercialize technologies for Big Data processing.
In addition to his work in the business world, Stoica was a professor in the EECS Department at the University of California at Berkeley. He is an ACM Fellow as well.
Honors that Stoica has received include the ACM doctoral dissertation award, SIGOPS Hall of Fame Award, SIGCOMM Test of Time Award. He received his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Melon University.
