Crystal Bridges Distinguished Speaker Series Names Performance Artist Marina Abramovic First 2017 Speaker

The Crystal Bridges Museum of Art has announced the presenter for their 2017 Distinguished Speaker Series. The events will kick off on March 24th with iconic performance artist Marina Abramovic. 

From 7-8 p.m., Abramovic will discuss her career. There are several other speakers who were also announced that will complete the schedule through December. 

Attending events is $8 for non-members and $10 for non-members. Crystal Bridges is located in Bentonville, Arkansas and provides a variety of regular programs in addition to the speaker series. 

Abramovic has been known for pushing the limits as a performance artist over five decades. She explores the relationship between artist and audience while pushing physical and mental boundaries. 

Abramovic is also inspiring a new generation of performance artists through the Marina Abramovic Institute. She has shared much of her life with her memoir, "Walk Through Walls."

Abramovic holds multiple honorary degrees. In 2011, she received the Cultural Leadership Award from the American Federation of Arts.
