Local Initiative Support Corporation Jacksonville hosted their Community Development Awards. They found the perfect keynote speaker in Creative Cities Summit co-founder Peter Kageyama.
Kageyama addressed how Jacksonville should ride the recent success of the NFL's Jaguars. He talked about turning the rush of excitement from their AFC Championship Game appearance into permanent city pride.
Kageyama also talked about the powerful resource cities have with infrastructure, like Jacksonville's St. John's River. In addition to hearing his practical tips, several individuals were honored with awards.
For years, Kageyama has been studying how to improve American cities. He serves as a community development consultant and a grassroots engagement strategist.
Kageyama is the author of For the Love of Cities: The Love Affair Between People and Their Places and Love Where You Live: Creating Emotionally Engaging Places. He is the former president of Creative Tampa Bay.
Kageyama is the co-founder of the Creative Cities Summit and a senior fellow with the Alliance for Innovation. He is a special adviser for America in Bloom.
