One of the most popular names in entertainment is headed to speak at Alabama State. Comedian Steve Harvey will address the Class of 2016 at ASU commencement.
The ceremony is being held at 10 a.m. on May 7th at the Acadome. It is the school's 293rd commencement.
Just a few weeks earlier, the school announced a long-term partnership with Harvey. Much of that centers around the Alabama State's Turkey Day Classic football game played against fellow historically black university Tuskegee University.
Harvey is a true media mogul with his hands on several projects. He currently hosts the syndicated Steve Harvey talk show on television, "The Steve Harvey Morning Show" on radio, and hosts the game shows Family Feud and Little Big Shots.
For Harvey's TV work, he has won three Daytime Emmy Awards. Throughout his career, he has also won 13 NAACP Image Awards.
Harvey's career origins are in stand-up comedy and he gained popularity through the WB sitcom "The Steve Harvey Show" that ran from 1996-2002. In 2013, he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
