Colombian Advocate Catalina Escobar Named Commencement Speaker at Alma Mater

As an advocate for some of the most disadvantaged people in Colombia, Catalina Escobar has a life filled with purpose. This May, she will fulfill another important duty as the commencement speaker at Clark University.
The 112th Clark University Commencement is May 22nd. It will be held on the Jefferson Academic Center Green beginning with the noon procession from Kneller Athletic Center.
Escobar graduated from Clark in 1993 with a bachelor's degree in business administration. At the ceremony, she will receive an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters.
Escobar is the founder and director of the Juan Felipe Gomez Escobar Foundation. They provide healthcare services to those in need in Cartagena, Colombia.
Just last year, Escobar was honored as Outstanding Social Entrepreneur of the Year by the World Economic Forum. She was also recognized in 2015 by the World of Children Humanitarian Award.
In 2011, Escobar was awarded the National Merit Order Award by Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos. She has used the platform of the Juanfe Foundation to reach groups and lecture at some of the top universities around the world.
